EIA decision now endorsed by the Kainuu Ely Center

The local authority, Kainuu ELY-Center, has completed the environmental impact assessment of KaiCell Fibers Oy Ltd. ELY Centres are responsible for the regional implementation and development tasks of the central government. According to Kainuu ELY Center, the project is feasible. The company will submit an environmental permit application in the near future.

The EIA process has identified and assessed significant impacts on the environment, as has the social impact. The significant positive impact of the biorefinery project is directed at the regional economy and employment. In full production, the biorefinery employs directly about 220 people and indirectly over 1 000 for many decades.

The environmental impact assessment is now complete and the local authority has given a reasoned conclusion from the EIA-report. The reasoned conclusion is taken into account in the environmental permit application.
